WCPN Idea Stream Show on Commuter Rail

November 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Thoughtful ideas. Can we do a rail without Federal Funding? Can we follow Maine’s example and experience and realize the speed and frequency of trips is going to be key in making commuter rail like The West Shore Corridor successful?

Councilman Cummings from Ward 15 called in to talk about exploring all the ideas possible towards funding through the private sector and local monies.

The Ohio Rail commission rep said there IS Federal monies, so don’t forget that availability. We heard from a few Avon residents who commute Downtown and see the West Shore Corridor as a real plus.

Someone else called in to say why not improve mass transit so it goes around the City and not make someone go INTO the City to get it.

Anyway, go to Ideastream to hear the IdeaStream podcast (should be available by later today).  And since the one caller was one of the gals working on the Downeaster train service on the East Coast, here is a previous post I wrote that features a dynamite video about the Downeaster.

I say let’s take control of our economic futures and get on board.  Peace Out – 3C
