I really think some really creative and neighborhood useful ideas are going to come out of our vacant house issues. One of the few times that phrase make lemons out of lemonade might apply in a serious way. Much has been proposed and written, but I found this blog post….
Anne Trubek lives in Cleveland I think, but she is a Professor at Oberlin. In this post she covers another person’s coverage through word and photo, of the city of Detroit’s vacant housing issues. You can read her blog post about it here (and we sure do grow terrific writers in Cleveland, she is wonderful, can’t wait to read more of her work).
She’s writing about a Detroit photographer named Griffioen who calls vacant houses feral. I admit to loving that phrase, as does Ms. Trubek.
