Apparently the orange barrels on Euclid are like a blizzard to me: a challenge. In the last two weeks I have bobbed and weaved and u-turned and avoided them no less than ten times. First, I have a client who lives at E. 12th and Euclid so I have been there a few times picking him up. Then two restaurant trips (#1Pho and Siam Cafe, which BTW is the bomb, I mean truly, the best restaurant in Cleveland. Go ahead, argue with me!) Then three meetings and a seminar and and…you get the picture.
Crain’s Cleveland beckoned since sleep did not. The Silver Line on the Euclid Ave Corridor will open partially by the end of this year. Okay, it will be buses not light rail but the hope is to help local businesses and ease congestion.
Jay Miller wrote about the fact that pedestrians and cars will have to adjust to additional traffic (the bus) and that maybe left-turning on a red light becomes even more of a bad idea. All this makes me gleeful that someday we will all be light rail savvy drivers looking for cars and rail - just like other big cities. BTW, we already have to do this on Shaker Boulevard. So pretend it’s Shaker! You can read the skinny about it on the RTA site. I am stoked that a year from now I can walk to the RTA from my house, take it to Public Square, transfer to the Silver Line travel through the Euclid Avenue Corridor and get off at University Circle.
Later this morning, I will head back down to orange barrel central. I am wondering how adding a bus lane to the already maze-like street will work. But hey, that just makes it a bigger challenge. I need to stop at Cafe Aroma on my way, don’t I? I hope they are open on Sundays. Peace Out - 3C
