Roadtrip! President Lincoln’s Cottage Now Open to Public in DC

February 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

abraham-lincoln.jpgThey call it a cottage, even the website is lincolncottage.org. It has 34 rooms! You can read Tim Ferris’ post on Ohio City being voted one of the top cottage locations .  Those are REAL cottages! lol

Nevermind, the Lincoln Cottage is beautiful, and since it’s President’s Day week,  it seems like a good time to feature his home. It’s located in NW Washington DC. The next time I visit DC (hopefully this Summer) it will be on my list of things to do.  It’s accessible via public transportation — sigh, how I miss the Metro.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation spent 15 million dollars on the renovations.

You can read many quotes from President Lincoln on this Abraham Lincoln research website; and you can actually read the Lincoln-Douglas Debates of 1858 on this site.  Also a ‘hats off’ to PR Newswire, where I first read about this. If you go to their ‘news and information’ pages there is video of the Cottage.

Peace Out – 3C
