NE Ohio Companies Say They Will Pay More and Not Follow A National Trend

February 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Okay, I was on the Urban Ohio Forum and saw a mention of a blog post (business blog section) by Alison Grant from 1-30-2008. Apparently NE Ohio companies are saying they will hire more people and pay better, something not happening on a National basis. (I linked to the general blog which is the only way to do it….go down to 1/30 entries for this post).

Here is the ERC press release about a survey they conducted. “….Sixty-three percent of organizations expect to employ more employees in 2008 than in 2007….” 14% of the companies surveyed said they would do more outsourcing; and a majority of those surveyed said they saw value in offering better wages, competitive wages, rather than reducing wages to cut costs.  ”….61% of organizations report that they will be focusing more on training and development initiatives in 2008, with nearly 70% reporting that they will be specifically focusing on management and leadership development initiatives….”

Do you think this will help us? I’m thinking it could help attract college graduates who might see NE Ohio companies offering something they can’t find elsewhere? Then it will be up to us to keep them here!  Peace Out – 3C
