New Jersey, Kristal! No wonder! Now you are into my fond memories from living in Boston and traveling on weekends to NJ to farm stands! The best melons I ever had ! Can you take a flickr pic of the oil painting? It would be awesome to see.

My folks apples were grown in New Jersey! No the apple stand and my Grandparents orchard is now a luxury home complex. I do have an oil painting of it. Thankfully one of my cousins is an artist.

Elaine, short of a fresh peach, peach pie has to be a gift from the gods and I can taste it as you describe it.

I remember in the early 90s Emeril Lagasse had a promo when his show first went on the air, find a vw bus and video your search. I did a video! (I think we were looking for the Partridge Family bus lol)

Kristal what a memory and I bet you had a lot of apple pies! The Toledo area is, I'm sure, still full of good, fresh produce. I wonder if someone is still running that apple stand?

Thanks for your wonderful memories you two.

Oh Carole you are making me weak with nostalgia! I've always enjoyed buying fresh goodies from the truck farms back home. It's no wonder when I think how my Mom raised the family on them.

Actually my parents met because my Mom worked her folks apple stand. She sold an apple to my Dad when he came home from WWII!

Almost sounds Biblical...

My mouth is watering! When I was young, I remember the trips to northwestern OH to get cherries (both bing and sour) and to get bushels of peaches. Mom would then can them for the winter months.

But the fresh peach pies she made were pure heaven. Or the peaches served over the homemade ice cream we often churned up.

Love the VW bus ... brings up a whole 'nother set of memories! :-)
