Real estate may be local (and it is), but some truths hold true from State to State. Kristal Kraft is a Denver broker who wrote an excellent post today warning everyone to beware of help in sheep, er, carpetbagger clothing.
The bottom line is you should never, ever have to pay a third party group or person to help you with a mortgage issue. Please read her post, it points out the gravity of the situation using historical terms that make it a most wonderful read. Call your lender if you are in trouble with your payments. If you are afraid to call your lender, here in our area you can call non-profit groups like Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland or the East Side Organizing Project (ESOP) or whichever is your own CDC. They can hook you up with a third party that will help you FOR FREE.
