A shout out to Luke Mullins, who wrote this article, and alerted me about it today. He interviewed our AG Marc Dann and you can read it here in today’s US World & News Report.

I have a client who is facing a short sale or eventual foreclosure; luckily for her she works for a real estate attorney. I remember thinking how good it would be if more people in this situation could afford attorneys. But of course if you can’t pay a mortgage…..  anyway, Marc Dann says in this interview this is one of the reasons he developed a plan to have 1300 attorneys available to homeowners in certain foreclosure situations. He said mediation would not have worked because they needed an attorney since attorneys file foreclosures and the lenders have them.

The other highlight is this about the State of Ohio: Ohio won a court ruling that allows them to stop certain foreclosures based on lenders/banks not having the necessary hard copy paper proving they actually hold title to the house. (You can go to Callahan’s Diary and read about this regarding one bank in specific).

Luke asks him about the percentage of homeowners in foreclosure he feels the attorneys could help; you might be surprised at the percentage.  Read the interview, what do you think?  Good interview,  Luke. Peace Out – 3C
