NewGeography’s main staff seem to be located in North Dakota, but there are also a slew of contributing editors/writers from many other places. There is also a blog. What is Newgeography? A combo of more geeky information (which appeals to me lol) where economic growth areas are indexed. Unlike lists that you get in a Forbes magazine, this is a huge list, divided by small, medium and large cities. I found it fascinating. Some of you may have heard that Cleveland experienced a slight economic growth as of late, and that is reflected in this report. (To find it, go to the home page link above and click on Best Cities 2010).
You might find this next article intriguing. It’s titled City Thinking is Stuck in the 90s. Just to entice you, here is a quote:
“…The real issue should not be how to restart the condo boom, but how to restore what drove the resurgence of the 90s: job creation. This is a national problem to be sure, but not one that seems to interest most big city advocates. It’s almost as if there’s an assumption the jobs will come without working for them….”
The above article is written by Aaron Renn who incidentally also wrote an article entitled James Drain Hits Cleveland.
Try the site; you might wind up like me, I’ve been reading articles for a few hours! Peace Out – 3C
