Real estate is local and in fact, hyper local. Where we live is so subjective. While proximity to your kids’ schools and friends, or where you work can play a part, so much else goes into that decision.
I have an open house this Sunday (2 to 4pm) at 1279 Mathews. A very large colonial in Western Lakewood with three floors of living space as well as finished rooms in the basement. So many advantages to living in that area.
1. Walk to public transportation. I know someone who walked for half a year to the #26 bus stop on Detroit (five minute walk) because she wanted to and yes she had a car.
2. Natures Bin. It’s more than just an organic food store, although that is enough in itself. I was quite pleased to discover that much of their fruit and vegetable offerings are less expensive than any of the grocery chains. And selections are better. And much of it is locally grown. Nature’s Bin has been in existence since the mid ’70s and is a vital part of the community. Case in point: August 15th you can take your dog (and your own towels) to Nature’s Bin and volunteers will wash your pooch for you. Then you can relax and enjoy chips and burgers while the doggies dry off. Check it out here.
The same shopping center on Sloane is home to a McyDy’s if that is more your style.
3. Short jaunt to the Lakewood entrance to the Metro-parks that goes on forever. It’s beautiful, part of our Emerald Necklace, and I feel like I am in the wild, not the city, when I’m in there. And yes, the Lakewood Dog Park is in there too.
Walk to restaurants, shopping, or just walk the streets full of lovely old homes.
Seriously, if any of this sounds good to you, come see me at the open house this Sunday. Peace Out – 3C
