Christine, Lakewood is a great place to live. I lived there for a while myself! We are of like minds regarding their business districts. I knew all of my neighbors, and could walk to RTA. Plus there are tons of really cool homes to pick from at the moment. Good luck in your search! And have Veronica check into the First Time Home Buyers program, you can't go wrong with that.

We are thinking seriously about buying in Lakewood. It pains me to "desert" Cleveland proper, but the combination of useful business districts + public transit + affordable housing just can't be beat. The neighborhoods in Cleveland are just too gentrified, I guess would be the word. Nice houses and trendy restaurants but not much else.
