Or should I say love dogs? Today is my first day having ‘Truman’ home with me. Truman is a (approx) six yr old Collie/Shepherd mix. The dvd’s I watched about adopting shelter dogs said to keep your new pup close to you during the adjustment period. (To avoid accidents in the house, chewing on things not to be chewed, etc). That has not been an issue, he won’t leave my side. So far so good!
Except for one thing! In the kennel, my Truman was pals with a dog looking quite similar to him with same (possibly) breed mixes. They visited in each others kennel and held paws (that’s what they were doing when I first saw them). So now my goal is to get Truman number two adopted (I know, it’s confusing).
Dogs at the shelter are named for Internet posting purposes. So no one knows their real names. They named the dog I have now Tucker; I liked Truman. Hopefully that clears it up!
What I know is that the Shelter Warden said both of these dogs had identical personalities. Which (now that I have Truman home) means gentle, great on leash, loves people and other dogs (well at least we know the two of them got along very well!
Here is info about Cuyahoga County Shelter Dog Kennel #48 aka a great dog to adopt:
Truman – Kennel # 48
Truman is a very handsome Collie mix male who really wasn’t interested in having his photo taken. He’d rather have been out for a walk! This sweet older gentleman is sure to be a loyal and devoted companion if given the chance. Truman is already neutered and eager to move in with you today!
