Coffee lovers unite!
Okay, tons of contradictory health reports come out at least once a year regarding coffee and how much you should drink. Decades ago coffee was the devil incarnate. Then not so much. Through it all, it has been one habit I have not been able to break. Not that I have tried!
Now a 21 year study of over 1400 people has been publicized. Apparently those of us who drink four or more cups of coffee a day are 65% less likely to get dementia.
As I was browsing the NY Times site I came across this post by Nicholas Bakalar regarding the study.
A quote from the article:
First, earlier studies have linked coffee consumption with a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes, which in turn has been associated with a greater risk of dementia. In animal studies, caffeine has been shown to reduce the formation of amyloid plaques in the brain, one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease. Finally, coffee may have an antioxidant effect in the bloodstream, reducing vascular risk factors for dementia.
FWIW Peace Out – 3C (having my fourth cup as I type!)

Seeing that I’m a Diet Pepsi achiever, my question is, what if you start out with dementia, will caffeine cure it? If so, back up the truck to my office.
