There was an Ohio City Near West (OCNW) meeting last night, the details of which you can read on Really Bad Cleveland Accent, she wrote a fabulous post about it. What did that meeting tell me about real estate sales in Cleveland and viable neighborhoods? Plenty.
It was a standing room only crowd of people, there were excellent questions asked and at the end community members were able to speak. And then there was a vote on the issues. Ohio City is known for her block clubs (do we still call cities and neighborhoods ‘her?’); for their cohesiveness – everyone knows everyone, that’s my take. And this is what so many old timers talk about when they think back to the ‘old days in neighborhoods’ when it was a sense of place and community.
This is to me, why people buy homes in Ohio City, why it’s a destination, why people worked to make it a destination neighborhood for so long.
Why I also know this is true is to look at Tremont. Almost the same scenario with a vibrant CDC and block clubs. It’s also true I think to some extent in Kamm’s Corners. Anyone know anywhere else where this is true? It sounds like it might be happening in North Collinwood because it has become a destination place to live and buy a home as well.
This really is the heart of the issue ya know? If it’s a community where everyone works together to make things happen, it becomes a destination neighborhood and a great place to live. Your thoughts? Peace Out – 3C

The sense of community here is overwhelming. I’ve lived in 4 states and I’ve never experienced anything like this place, ever.
