Good News! Mayor Jackson Encouraging Independent Film Company

Nehst Creations, which is apparently no slouch since they did the Billy Bob Thornton movie Sling Blade, might be able to set up shop in an unused portion of our existing Convention Center for a year. At least that is what Mayor Jackson is presenting to our Council - well it’s after 8pm so he’s probably already done it.

The idea is to offer Nehst rent free space for a year so they can develop films in Cleveland. Apparently rents could be significantly higher if they went somewhere else, say, Detroit. The argument is that the space is not used anyway so it’s not generating any tax monies. So why not at least get jobs out of it?  I say right on, in lieu of the State allowing for the reduced taxes for the film industry, this is a great idea for Cleveland!  What do you think?

And if anyone was at the Council meeting tonight let us know what happened, please?  Peace Out – 3C
