The American Public Transportation Association thinks so. I love Cleveland, have big hopes for our continued improvement of our transit system….but I was a tad surprised by this award presented in Cleveland today. You can read about it here in an article written by Sarah Hollander of the PD. In order to compete in this category you have to provide at least 30 million rides…and I guess we did, to the tune of over 57 million rides! This is good news and just think we have the Silver Line coming on board soon. It is going to be soon, isn’t it?
I really like the fact that RTA utilizes private sector sponsorship of buses. Unlike sports stadiums and apparently convention centers that are supposed to be completely publicly funded, it makes sense to me that public/private partnerships are what really make things economically viable. And the APTA agrees, saying RTA is very well managed. Kudos RTA. Peace Out - 3C

Thank you, Dena and MF - now when I can figure out some little things, like how to add photos to posts without adding the entire file too, life will be good lol.

Congrats on the blog! Looks terrific and I look forward to reading your words of wisdom.
I, too, was surprised by the RTA award, especially since I know folks who ride the bus and aren’t thrilled with the service. Hmmm…I wonder if the people who gave the award ever stepped on a bus.

Casey, thank you and I have a feeling the award was based mostly on financial criteria; I mean, of course it’s good that it’s being run well fiscally but a broader base of service and better service would be great.
I know people who use the bus service that runs down Detroit Avenue and they are pleased as punch with it. So I guess that is something!
