Cleveland is a Good Place to Relocate

Yes, another list. But we made the top twenty, per PR Newswire’s story on the best cities to ‘get a fresh start.’ The actual study was done by Relocation.com.

How did they decide this? They looked at cost of living and other economic factors. They looked at jobs but in an interesting way: they went with cities that had diverse job opportunities, rather than one specific industry or field supplying the bulk of the jobs. They thought Cleveland fit that bill.

They also looked at affordable housing and markets where there wasn’t a huge bubble causing remarkable declines in sale prices now. Yes, our sale prices are down, but not compared to some cities where people were buying homes at $100k over last sale price in the area.

They also looked at volunteerism. Because ‘getting a fresh start’ is really about quality of life, and that involves more than just economics. We have such a rich history and continued effort in volunteerism.

One of the four criteria was ‘popular cities.’ Again, giving us perspective from those who do not live here but look at us positively? And how did they determine this? They looked to moving companies and how many quotes they got from people in other areas about moving here. How about that?

I’ve been selling homes for over six years now. One thing that continues to surprise me probably shouldn’t.  There are many more people calling in or contacting me on the web about moving TO Northeast Ohio rather than leaving it.

For the entire list of top twenty fresh start cities, based on Relocation.com, go here to the Relocation Blog.

Oh yeah, Columbus made the list too. :-)

Peace Out – 3C

[...] Cleveland was recently named as one of 20 Relocation.com’s Top Cities for a Fresh Start.  Cities were judged on four aspects: housing affordability, economic growth prospects, Relocation.com’s data of where people are moving and volunteerism.  Check out Cleveland blogger Carole Cohen’s full post in the Cleveland Real Estate News blog.
