Ch Ch Ch Change(s) Is Good

January 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Chris Schlenkerman and Mark Lastition at Howard Hanna CoThe world of Cleveland real estate is never boring anyway, but lately my world has been changing a lot.  As Bowie said, “….Strange fascination, fascinating me. Changes are taking the pace I’m going through….”

Manager Mark(Lastition) started the change chain. About a month ago he got a job that will continue to fuel his passion for real estate. He is the Director for Housing Development at Detroit Shoreway. How cool is that?  That necessitated a change from management to Realtor® for Mark.

It also started a new way of doing business for me. Mark and I have decided to partner our business.  There is a better energy, for me, working with someone else. The old adage two heads are better than one does apply  (maybe on our business cards we should put two heads on a stick figure…..I digress).  I have always respected and trusted Mark, and hopefully he feels somewhat the same way, so this partnership feels like a great fit for me.  And we both love Cleveland (I guess he will be equally Mr. Detroit Shoreway and Mr. Ohio City now lol).

Many a time I have spoken to home sellers or buyers working with Chris Schlenkerman and said how lucky they were to have such a creative, professional Realtor® working with them – I mean, give credit when credit is due, no? Well now he is managing our office! Chris shares my passion for Cleveland – and he is all about customer service. So this is a win-win for all of us. He also makes the best butternut squash soup I’ve ever tasted, but I digress…..)

2008 has begun vigorously for me. One client wants to move here from Florida (who’da thunk, especially in Winter!). One is coming from Texas. And two more who are first time home buyers. Calls for some upcoming listings of homes as well. So the truth is, the Cleveland economy is still struggling but people need a place to live, people still get new jobs, bigger or smaller families necessitating a move.

I like change more than having things stay the same. Never knew if that was a character asset or flaw. But after all these decades I can’t escape the fact that my creative juices flow better when change is around me.   It’s been a heady month for sure.  Now if we can get the idea of fiscal responsibility to  be our collective mantra, life will be perfect.  Or at least getting there! (I snapped the above photo of Mark and Chris at our office during the party announcing Chris’ new management job) Peace Out – 3C

Mark is a great guy. The last time I saw him was when we bought Marimargaret’s house. He will do well at DSCDO.

Yes, Carole – I’m as excited as you are – and yes, the respect is very mutual!
I also couldn’t be happier to have a dynamic professional like Chris, leading our team at the HHSC City Office. What a GREAT way to start the New Year!?
PS – thanx for the nice comments, Lou!
