What a beautiful day here in sunny, cloudless Cleveland! I’ve spent the past two days working on reorganizing my home office space because after a while it just has to be done! Still a lot to do but feeling good about life, as most organizing can make you feel. Not that I try it often enough!

Anyway, I set aside some time to surf for interesting blogs and websites. Came up with a few I bookmarked, and thought you wonderful readers (and I do appreciate you!) might find them useful as well.

First up is a company that restores photos. I have inherited seven scrapbook-style photo books from my parents. The Army apparently used to provide (or you could purchase) beautifully carved photo books to store your memories. I have two of those. Many of the photos in all of the books are in wonderful condition but there are a few I would love to have restored. If you’ve thought about it too, you might want to check out Scan Cafe. They provide before and after looks at photos, and talk about how they do their work.

The Lower Manhattan site talks about progress on Freedom Tower/One World Trade Center. Once you get on their site you can click on more links to get more in depth about Freedom Tower. I found reading about it very uplifting.

I tried the daily floss on Mental Floss. The site is pretty cool, with great links and mind-challenging content. Nothing worse than a bored mind so this might be fun lol.

The New York Times has a list of books on Abraham Lincoln, with a lot of new entries commemorating his 200th Birthday. This quote from William Safire’s article is enough to make me want to read more than one:

Though a member of no church, Lincoln meditated profoundly on the inscrutable justice of God. Though a family man and a forgiving soul, he refused to attend his own father’s funeral. And despite his modest protestation that he was controlled by events, the best of the Lincoln literature of our time reveals that his strong-willed decisions were driven by the unwavering political purpose of his life.

Were you ever up at night wondering how the opening chord on A Hard Day’s Night was constructed? I admit I wasn’t kept awake by it, but love the chord anyway. Here is Great Unsolved Mysteries in Rock Music on the Guitar Today website.

I think it’s time for a walk around the neighborhood. Happy browsing! Peace Out – 3C

I’m already a huge fan of the Siam Cafe, not to mention Asia Town itself. Tonight was delightful, being at Li Wah restaurant on Payne to celebrate The Year of the Ox. The restaurant is bright, colorful, and open enough that the lion dance was visible to everyone.

The lion dancers and their percussionists were fabulous. It was an amazing workout, considering the size of the restaurant and the physicality of the dance.

There was a male and female lion. Each danced for all the patrons. We had a chance to present the lions with a donation for good luck (you put it right in their mouth!@)

The lion has to climb those red benches you see in the photo, in order to eat the cabbage — also for good luck.

It was a total sensory experience, with fabulous food (even the chicken egg rolls were wonderful) and lots of people watching. There were so many children waiting in anticipation of the lion dance. It was delightful watching them watch the lions.

The fish tank was wonderful, with an exotic (to me) creature in it. Geoduck clam, which is considered the largest bivalve, can be found around the Puget Sound, and can live to be 150 years old! Now that doesn’t sound as tasty to me but it sure was wild seeing one. Anyone tried a geoduck clam? The one in this tank was at least 12 inches long, with features of a little neck (only bigger) and could be yours to try for $69 bucks. Like a littleneck clam on steroids! Oy! lol

This was my first experience at a Chinese New Year celebration and I hope it won’t be my last! We all enjoyed very much, our first dining experience at Li Wah. I highly recommend it! As you can see from this Plugged In Cleveland review of Li Wah, dim sum is a specialty so I can’t wait to go back. I am sure many of you are already fans, I’m just glad I am one of them now.

By the way, it’s the Year of the Ox – and the Ox stands for prosperity – certainly something I wish for all of you. Peace Out – 3C

Ten years ago, I never would have thought I would be able to forge friendships through the Internet. I met Moni McGillicuddy because we were both Realtors® blogging on Active Rain. It was a natural progression meeting Jay as well (they are married, after all lol). They live and work in New Hampshire. I live vicariously through them due to their close proximity to prime lobster territory!

A few days ago I found an email from Jay. He and Moni were trekking around the Mount Washington Valley area of New Hampshire and they came across train tracks & a train. He sent me, already configured for my blogs random heading photos, two fabulous photos. So if you click on my blog and you see train tracks nestled in the middle of some beautiful fall foliage, it will be one of the two photos I added to my blog. Thank you so much, Jay!

Are you a golfer? If so (or if you are an armchair golfer and like to watch it or read about it instead), check out The New Hampshire Real Estate Golfer. Jay also allowed his car to become a guinea pig, so to speak, for a fuel ‘thingy’ that looks like a small propane tank but isn’t. I don’t think! Whatever it is, it’s trying to help with fuel efficiency. You know those entreprenuerial New England types, they keep up with us in NE Ohio! So you might want to check out his blog to see what progress that idea is making. His real estate blog is here.

Jay McGillicuddy you rock and I thank you so much for my new trains! Peace Out – 3C

This is the closest I have come to being able to snap a decent photo of one. Does anyone know what it stands for? A chocolate store? A Cleveland or Cuyahoga County PAC? I’m so curious to know.

I wish the photo were clearer but you know how it is, when you want a red light you don’t get one lol. The edges of this elliptical sticker have brown and teal bars around it (not visible since we were moving at 35 miles an hour).

I’m hoping someone can satisfy my curiosity. Peace Out – 3C
